Works on this property in Newtonmore began in early October 2011. Involving the installation of double glazed sashes into original casements the works on this property were split into two stages:
Stage one – Downstairs
Stage one saw us install five double glazed upgrades on the ground floor of the property. The original single glazed sashes, parting beads and baton rods were removed. The existing casement was inspected for rot and the necessary repairs were made. The double glazed sashes were installed along with new parting beads and baton rods with integral brush strips. The windows were then re-roped, re-weighted and fitted with new high quality brass ironmongery. Our client opted to go with 18mm double glazed units.
Stage Two- Upstairs
The second stage was a little more complex. Two 1/1 style dormer bay windows with angled sides were situated in this area of the property. The works carried out during stage one also applied to the centre windows of these dormers. The most complex part of the work concerned the angled dormer windows. These required a template to be taken to our workshops for manufacture and to ensure a perfect fit. The top sashes were fixed and the bottom was unweighted using the simplex system. Both bay windows had the simplex system installed which allows easier access to the outside of the sash windows.
“Excellent workmanship and thorough tradesmen. The house has never looked better. Comfort and cost of heating over the winter both benefited. Would recommend unreservedly.”
